Short History Of Bora

Every generation has its idols. Guys who were our heroes. Guys who defined "cool". Guys who drive chicks crazy. My generation produced a ton of these guys. Michael Jordan, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lebron James, Alexander Ovechkin and, of course... yours truly. OK, so I didn't have a Top 10 single. I did have the one thing every teen idol needs. A fan. Bora Gokcenlik, my best friend. Bora is a 2nd year college student, and, to put it mildly, he thought I put the moon in the sky and told the stars to shine. It was kind of flattering, I guess. It was also kind of nauseating. And the worst thing was no matter how hard I tried to ignore it wouldn't ignore me. Not to seem insensitive, but a man of my years had more important things to think about, than a little Bora. I was no Superman. Not really, anyway. But if Bora needed a hero... so be it. He had plenty of time to grow up, and figure it out on his own. After all, a little stardust in the eyes never hurt anybody. Least of all, me.

Beating Eddy

There are a lot of great records in sports. Rocky Marciano fought to victory in forty-nine straight heavyweight prizefights. The University of Oklahoma won forty-seven college football games in a row. But in the annals of sports... there was one record that surpassed them all. One destined to go unbroken for time. I had beaten Eddy Kibambe at NHL 09. As near as I can remember Eddy beat me like seven hundred eighty eight times in a row in NHL. Give or take a hundred. It was a streak that went all the way back to grade 11 - maybe even before. Not that I was some kind of all-star. It's just... I was that day.

I have loved this poem for the last couple of years when i stumbled upon it by accident. It gives me courage, and I think i need it now more than ever.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley. 1849–1903

i just want to throw a shout out to one of the members of GKC Gursh Dhillon.

I know I havent said anything in awhile, but im just trying to get used to my new found life.  So I realized my new life is pretty much boring. No more glamour in my life, except for the magazine. If you guys want to know what i do all day, I watch television, go on computer and occasionally take a nap.  I took more naps when i had 2 legs.
But ive  decided that i shall not shave until im back in the public eye. Im gonna have a huge beard like saddam. Then im gonna make a comeback bigger than britney and mariahs combine. So keep you ears to the streets and your eyes to the blog. Im out.

So Fresh and So Clean

I huge progress today.  A first milestone if you will. Something as important as losing your virginity, high school graduation, your first A2M or first threesome. Today, as a new member of the disabled society...I took my first solo shower. I was an epic battle between the shower head and my sanity. I put my battle gear on which consists of no clothing and a large black garbage bag covering my achilles heal. My faithful horse was a which stool that sat in the middle of the tub. I started the shower and the battle began. It was difficult to sit on the horse at first, but once i was sitting on it, I was ready. Once the water hits you, its so sweet, like your first taste of a Spiced Rum and Coke on a hot sunny day. I didn't want to move, I just wanted to sit there and enjoy the water down my back. For that moment I felt like I was once normal, like I was one of you, a 2 legged manwalker. I soaped myself and watched my hair. When I came out clean I put my towel on removed the garbage bag and went to my room. I was hoping everywhere for some reasons. Then I realized I forgot something. I forget my crutches in the washroom, I was so relaxed that I didn't realize I couldn't walk.
All in all, good morning.

Angie Perez -------- 3-1
Miguel Cunha-------5-0
Eddy Kibambe------2-1

Im Calling You Out Asefaw

I've decided to call out the grand champ on NHL. Abel Asefaw.

I've been waiting for this day my whole life. This day of reckoning.

Abel, you always had a hard time finding your place in this world . Never knowing your true worth. You can settle for less than an ordinary life. Or do you feel like you were meant for something better... something special. I beat Bora in OT...I dare you to do better. You will experience fear. Fear in the face of certain death. You are capable of choosing your own destiny. The question is which path will you choose.
Abel Asefaw is a great man...But that was another life.

Accept my challenge.

My list of victims.

Bora has accepted my challenge. And we played.  I defeated my foe with a 3-2 OT win. Bora admitted my power level has grown quite large since we last battled.
So overall, in NHL 09 vs Bora.
I am 4-0. Never lose. Heres some pics of his face when i beat him. Capturing the moments.

Heres what you do when you got nothing to do

Well, you shall see what the combo of percocet and my skills give you. Im issuing a challenge to all comers. I shall become an NHL 09 GOD. I did these moves while i was drugged up. Im doing a season in dynasty mode. Im in the all star game. Im with the east all stars. My starting lineup is Ovechkin, Malkin and kovalchuk Gonchar Kubina. The Russian Rockets. Then an all canadian lineup. Crosby, staal and heatley. Then i did Crosby Ovechkin and Malkin. My fourth line was shit so who cares. I know that they aren't playing their respective positions, but with my skills who cares. Now take a look at my magic. And just admit its a good goal.
Let me add this to the scenario. Its a short handed goal. I tend to do this on Roma a few times. Especially on Nattys face. I even remember this is the exact move i did on Natty Aytenfisu to score.

"I am going to that wedding"

It's been a rough couple of days but the recovery has already started.

We were in ER on the night of 27th in Royal Alexander. Senai were moved out of ER the same night and waited for his surgery until 29th. The surgery went well, his toes were swollen a little and some bleeding from the screws but nothing unusual. Senai was released from hospital on 30th (saturday) and he had one thing in mind. Jesse Wharton's wedding.

Jesse is our high school friend who just got married last night. We've been to his bachelor party at Banff a couple weeks ago and were looking forward to his wedding. Senai went into the surgery one day late and was worried that he wouldn't be able to attend to the wedding. I went to church at 1 pm, constantly text messaging Angie to see if Senai was released or not. He got released around 12 and I headed straight over to his place to check upon him.

To be honest, I knew he wanted to go that wedding but I had a few concerns and doubts as I spoke with Angie. She has been the greatest girlfriend since the incident and we were both not sure if Senai can attend to this wedding. I mean the kid just wheelchaired out of the hospital and on major pain killers, we thought he'd want to rest. We sat down and talked to him and all he said was "It's my best friend's wedding, I am not missing it, I am going to that wedding."

We figured there is no point in arguing with him since his mind was set so we hauled his ass to the wedding. It was a blast and I think what everyone needed. A million people asked me about Senai during church and everyone was wondering if he is going to make it to the reception or not and when he made it, it was a scene. Fully dressed in his suit (I had to dress his ass), rolling in his wheelchair, smiling and cracking jokes like nothing happened was his style. He was there for most of the night and had to cut early but he was there nonetheless. Stay tuned for some sick pics haha.

My best friend Senai

On May 27, 2009, during a Div1a game between AS Roma and AC Milan, our beloved defender and my best friend Senai Shiferaw suffered a major leg break. He broke his tibia and fibula on an honest 50/50 tackle. During that moment, I made him a promise that I am going to be there for him until he puts his Roma jersey back on and plays again and so far it has led me to this.

Let me begin by saying, I hate blogs. I have few friends who uses them and I am usually sick of reading about people's daily activities such as "I drank milk today" but that all changed for me when I red one of our friend's and teammate's (adriano) blog entry about Senai's injury. It has trully inspired me to start a blog and document Senai's recovery.

You definetly should read Adriano's entry here: http://betweensleepandawake.blogspot.com/

Senai is loved by many and quite possibly hated by no one. I know the kid for 10 years and I am yet to meet a single person that has something bad to say about him. A lot of people like his teammates, friends and family, including himself, are worried about his comeback. So I am going to use this blog to keep everyone up to date and inspire him to keep going.

The entries will be mostly done by me and Senai which I believe will be good for Senai because he has a lot of spare time now ha ha so this will keep him busy and it will help him to reflect on his experiences, reflections and daily challenges he goes thru both physically and mentally.

So hopefully, this blog can also help or guide other amateur athletes who goes through same sort of major injuries.
